What we store

For supporters: preferred name, broad region, saved interest, and saved projects. For farm applicants: those account basics plus the farm application, country, city or town, optional broad area description, and a cover photo. We do not ask for a street address or exact farm GPS.

We do not ask this pilot form for card details, bank details, government IDs, date of birth, gender, family status, or exact farm GPS. Uploaded JPG, PNG, and WebP files are processed to remove embedded EXIF and text metadata before storage.

Signed-in application text is automatically saved to the account with at most 20 recent recovery versions. A newly selected cover photo is uploaded immediately; before replacement, the prior sanitized photo is copied into private account storage, with at most five old photo versions. These backups do not use an IP address as identity. Before sign-in, text recovery is temporary and limited to that browser; photos are not retained by browser recovery. If a signed-in person opens a browser-only draft, Sproutly shows it for review but does not attach it to that account until the person explicitly chooses Save draft or Continue.

Who can see it

Drafts are not public. The account holder and authorized Sproutly operators may access them to support the application and review consent, evidence, and payment readiness. When an applicant submits with separate consent, Sproutly immediately makes an applicant-created campaign page live and shareable by link, showing the farm name, story, crop or farm type, requested amount, use of funds, broad country, and saved photo. The current consent explicitly lists the page in Browse immediately and states that Sproutly has not reviewed the submitted claims. Publishing alone cannot collect money.

If you choose the writing-assistance button, the text in that field may be sent to the configured AI provider to prepare a suggestion. The original is preserved until you accept an edit.

Campaign-owner updates and group-chat messages posted by a campaign owner or an eligible settled supporter are public. Evidence files are private when submitted and appear publicly only after a separate publishing action. A message author can hide their own message, and the campaign owner can hide messages and campaign updates from public view. The current pilot does not yet provide an independent report or administrator moderation queue, or a complete reviewer publish/reject workflow for evidence.

Money and legal status

Saving a project is not a donation, subscription, investment, or loan. No payment for a farm is live. A farm payment path will open only after a real recipient, consent, partner review, processor approval, and country-specific legal review are in place, and Sproutly never holds that money.

Sproutly also has a guarded Stripe Connect route for a future approved U.S. recipient pilot. If explicitly enabled, Stripe hosts the donor checkout and recipient identity, tax, and bank setup. The payment is created as a destination charge: Stripe transfers the disclosed recipient share to that connected account and may return a separately disclosed application fee to Sproutly. Sproutly stores provider identifiers, integer amounts, status, refund, dispute, and transfer references, but never raw card, bank, tax, or identity details. That route remains closed unless the processor, recipient, campaign, capability, webhook, and safety-limit gates all pass.

The Ghana pilot work page accepts a voluntary payment that Sproutly receives as its own income for research, coordination, and evidence work. Stripe hosts checkout, so card details never reach Sproutly. Stripe records the amount, status, and receipt details. When Sproutly’s native checkout is enabled, Sproutly also stores the amount, status, and an optional receipt email in its payment ledger; a temporary external Stripe link does not update that ledger or the on-site campaign total. This payment is not a charitable donation and is not tax-deductible. The Ghana farm receives $0 from this payment.

Retention and deletion

Pilot account data stays available while the account is being used or an application is under review. You can permanently delete the Sproutly data connected to your signed-in account below, including campaign messages, updates, evidence metadata, and private uploads. Payment amounts, provider identifiers, and settlement status remain in the financial ledger for reconciliation, but Sproutly removes the donor account link and receipt email from those rows. An account that controls an active Stripe payout relationship must first ask Sproutly to close or transfer that relationship; it cannot be deleted while doing so would orphan a recipient or payout record. The team should also close inactive pilot records after the pilot rather than retaining them indefinitely.
